10 Thing’s I’d Tell Myself 10 Years Ago

At the beginning of the year there was a challenge that went global!
It all started off very simple: celebs were posting pics of themselves from 10 years ago side by side with pics from now and tadaaaaaaah The #10YearChallenge was born.

Now I didn’t partake in this particular game myself and at the time I used the excuse of not having any photos from 2009 to share, I’m sure if I looked hard enough I would have found some suitably embarrassing photos to show you and prove that the glow-up has been real but not today (: (well yes TODAY cos you can have a look at me in the featured images in this of course, but please don’t tell everyone on Instagram I was lying!)
But I do love a bit of good old fashioned inspiration and that is what the 10 year challenge did for me. So have a look below at 10 things I would tell my younger self, if I had the chance and a rare glimpse at what I actually looked like 10 years ago!

The swag, good LORD the swaggg

  1. Doubts hold you back
Affirmations help you ascend, they really do. What initially feel like silly statements repeated over and over actually make a difference once you believe them to be true. When you spend your time worrying about what you’re lacking and allow the doubts to creep in you waste so much time, time you could be spending happily.

  2. You have to love yourself first. Always.
You can never really love someone else if you don’t first have it for yourself. You can never find happiness in others if you don’t discover it first in yourself. You can’t take from others what doesn’t exist in you. This is one of the harder ones because loving yourself comes with knowing yourself and getting to know yourself is hard. Being honest with yourself is hard because there are things about you that you won’t like and there always will be. Being ok with that? Embracing that? Its take time but once you start learning, you won’t go back.

  3. Everyone is selfish
And there really isn’t anything wrong with that. At all. Yes do things for other people, the universe deserves your kindness but also look after you. Because you go to sleep with you at night and wake up with you in the morning. You spend every moment in your own head and frankly you deserve to come first.

  4. Gratitude changes everything
Once you stop asking why things happen to you and start exploring what you are being taught your perception literally shifts. Things start to make sense. Everyday you wake up is truly a blessing, you have to remember that and live accordingly.

  5. You have to believe in yourself
No-one else will until you do. I don’t mean fake it til you make it. I mean BELIEVE that you have got this, believe enough to do the things you’re scared to do because you have NO idea how well it could (will) turn out

Come THRUUUU with the killer shade Yinks!

  6. Don’t be ashamed of your story
There are times when you will want to shy away from what you are or how you got here but you can’t. Not everyone has had to struggle to reach a certain point but that doesn’t make you any less deserving. How far you have come reflects how much you have achieved and you aren’t any-less deserving because it has taken time.
Smile when you think of where you were compared to where you are now, don’t cringe when you think ofΒ  where you used to be. You are unique because of your story.

  7. Celebrate
Celebrate your wins, celebrate your friends, celebrate your birthday, celebrate the fact that you are surrounded by people you love. Just celebrate

  8. Pick your battles, not everything is a war
Yes you need to be fighting your corner and sticking up for yourself but not absolutely everything requires your energy. You have to pick what deserves your attention.

  9. He comes back and you don’t want him
LOL trust me! And when he does come back you won’t want him. It is sods law and always the way! It’s just how it goes hunty!

  10. You are beautiful, inside, outside, upside, downside…. You are beautiful
The glow up was real with this one
