Top 5 non-essential festival essentials… For you!

I think it is safe to say that we are definitely in festival season. In previous years I have never been confident about saying this but this time around, I am screaming it from the roof tops: aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh

Proof that is in fact festival season

This piece is dedicated to the festival’s that I have already been to (and hosted, YES I just had to slide that one in there) and the festivals that are yet to come.

Who put that there?!?

It was hard, but I have managed to whittle it all down and compile MY top5 festival essentials to help make sure you are ready to look and feel amazing!

NB. Now when I say essentials I DO NOT mean toilet paper, antibacterial hand gel or UV protective sunglasses (although it is advisable to bring all of these) no, this is a more of a non-essential, essential list to help keep you awesome throughout the best season of the year!
Enjoy (:

Lets start at the place that is close to everyones hearts: the British weather (lolz)
The weather is nothing if not unpredictable so my first piece of advice to all of my festival- going- babes is to invest in a rain jacket. There are countless brands and types ranging from the cheap and cheerful ‘Emergency Poncho’ which in my opinion is more to make you look like you are attempting to keep dry rather than actually keeping dry, to a very practical and durable Berghaus….

When it comes to festival- jackets, for me it has to be the Boohoo Erin Holographic Mac, which comes in a bunch of sassy iridescent colours!

What it lacks in waterproofy-ness (definitely just invented that word) it definitely makes up for in sparkle and you will look like a mermaid… Job done.

Keeping on with the ‘British weather is against us’ theme. You will need to keep your toes dry. It is all well and good wanting to channel Cochella with sassy sandals but in LA you are not (unless you are actually in LA then please continue and ignore the picture below) and no one wants trench foot because they didn’t prepare properly.

I have a pair of DM ‘s which are the most festival appropriate shoes to ever grace this land.

When I first got them I did think that they were too pretty to wear in the mud but after taking a second to realise that they are DM’s and that is what DM’s are made for! I think I have worn these to every festival I have been to thus far and I am not planning on changing any time soon.

A trend, which thankfully, has continued over from last summer is temporary tattoos. You can get these pretty much anywhere on the high-street now but if you are in it for the long haul; think Glasto 5 day camping, then I suggest Lottie London as the brand to go to. They do all different kinds of themed packs and are probably the easiest to apply! They have lots of different packs but my the Henna set is my fave. These are available from ASOS

Lottie London @ We Are Festival

Think Secret Garden Party, think Bestival. Think Go Get Glitter and their Festival Survival Box which contains pretty much everything you will need to keep up appearances whilst living out of a tent and potentially pee-ing in a field, including:
* Face glitter with glue which is surprisingly easy to apply and water soluble as well
* One of those emergence ponchos in case you completely ignored my no1 essential
* An assortment of face and hair jewels/ accessories
*Cute rings and accessories
* A mirror (which was surprising but oh so necessary)

The wig is optional.. But why wouldn’t you?

And last by by no means least!

This year it is all about standing out whilst sitting on someone’s shoulders in a crowd of thousands and I have just the way for you to do that: a bold lip. And I am not talking red or orange NO NO
I have never been afraid of colour and you should be either.
More and more brands are now offering alternatives to the everyday lip colour. I have picked 4 shades from my 2 of my favourite brands, and since I am writing this post without any make-up on, I have done a sassy little swatch below :
